Campbell Knutson Attorneys Jared Shepherd and Jack Brooksbank Successfully Defend Client at the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals

The federal 8th Circuit Court of Appeals recently issued an opinion affirming dismissal of a claim for malicious prosecution against the City of Orono. The plaintiff, who was suing the city over what was originally a building permit dispute, argued that she had been maliciously targeted by city staff. Campbell Knutson shareholder Jared Shepherd argued the case, assisted by Jack Brooksbank, and successfully marshaled the record to show that there was no tortious conduct by the city. In doing so, the 8th Circuit affirmed the decision of the district court, where Campbell Knutson had also prevailed. Campbell Knutson’s victory secured dismissal of the entire case before trial, sparing staff time and saving the City significant legal expenses.
