Richard joined the firm in 2025. Richard practices in the areas of general municipal and government law, working in the areas of real estate, land use, data practices, contract and ordinance drafting, and litigation.

Prior to joining Campbell Knutson, Richard gained extensive experience litigating complex civil cases in state and federal court nationwide. This has included representing various states in litigation arising from the opioid epidemic, and serving on the trial team that helped secure a $60.5 million settlement for the State of Minnesota following a three-week trial against several major e-cigarette companies. Richard also has significant experience working on data privacy and security matters.

Following law school, Richard clerked for the Honorable Louise Dovre Bjorkman of the Minnesota Court of Appeals.

He received the Minnesota Lawyer Attorneys of the Year award in 2023.
